'Players getting away with murder for a long time'
Good to see Butland and Adams coming out and saying this as I think there is a lot of this happening in the Premier League, especially at our club.

So if you were to name Players at WHU who would fit this category, who would you choose?

I'll start with a few -

Cresswell
Byram
Kouyate
Ogbonna
Obiang
Hernandez, although recent.

I'm not sure about Byram, think it's confidence rather than attitude.

What do you mean by getting away with murder?

Taking the piss? I’m not sure any of those do that, but most are playing below the level we have seen in the past. They all seem to be trying, though.

'getting away with murder for a long time'

It's a quote from Charlie Adams re: Stoke.

I tend to agree with him and think we have a few players at our club doing the same. The dedication just doesn't seem to be there for a select few.

I reckon top of the list and probably needs to be applauded is ayew who has actually earned a living pretending to be a footballer

You example Ogbonna, who has been a defensive mainstay this year, and yet you do not mention Carroll who by common consent does not live the lifestyle required of a highly paid PL striker.

Re: 'Players getting away with murder for a long time'
We just don't have enough players in our midfield who take a game by the scruff of the neck which leaves the defence exposed and the front line scrapping for loose passes and a lack of support to hold it up.

When it comes to transfers, it's seems such a murky world, with agents etc and also extremely amateurish! These clubs, including us, are paying millions for players and millions in wages but does anyone look in detail about these players, I would have thought a detailed psychological assessment would be standard, or look at their facebook/twitter account for a clue. G&S and Brady give it the Billy Big Bollocks about being astute business people, yet they remain strangely silent on Hugill, for instance. Like an earlier poster, I don't think Byram lacks ability, it just seems to me he is shit scared of playing in front of 50,000 as was Snodgrass. Fuck me an airline pilot would be tested to see if they can handle pressure!

Just look at those old pictures of The Royal Arsenal - some shifty looking characters there...

Wouldve put Arnie in this category until Moyes sorted him out.
For a while he seemed like an absolutely pointless signing. Now he's arguably our main man.

May well explain the supposed "Royal" link to the Ripper

I don't class any of the players mentioned in the OP as in that category. Even Hernandez is clearly a dedicated pro - the massive overread of one clip of him jogging isn't reflective of his broader commitment imo. Cresswell and Kouyate I don't think their commitment is in question at all - in fact I think their strongest plusses are their reliable commitment levels. Whether they're good enough or not is a different matter.

On Arnautovic, he clearly to me is still in the category of players who vary in terms of application and commitment. I think it's much more of a question mark whether we commit to building around more of that next season, hoty or no.

Also in terms of what Adam has said, what's actually wrong with hiring a personal trainer?

The last time I saw Charlie Adam he didn't exactly look in peak physical shape either.

I'm looking forward to the full Alex V investigation and analysis of what has gone wrong at Stoke. He will obviously know more about it than a couple of the current players there.
